When the need for development was vocalized, connecting cities became essential. The Gujarat model emerged and lured the majoritarian mindset with the promise of infrastructure, buildings, roads, air-traffic – which became key words for this idea of development. The Gujarat model – this model signaled a new stage of changemaking in this country. The projected state and its false growth; processed to convert the country’s landscapes to new purpose; the promise of development and “Ache Din”. The Modi government’s NIIFL started to affect many historic places as well as history itself. This aggressive feeling for building a new nation and constructive symbol of development did not spare anything in its path.
This note is on Modi government’s NIIFL role in the development of an airport, which is so far from the city it is meant for that it comes under a different village. It’s also about the glimpses of the village itself, Devanahalli, we visited recently; situated from the 35km from Bangalore city – the neoliberal city of Zomato, Uber and emerging tech/high city.
Interestingly, Devanahalli is also the birth place of Tipu Sultan, an under-recognised visionary. Hayder Ali too has his own stake over it who have built the fort. The fort all around the Devanahalli speaks of the great adventure of history. The thirty-eight bastion of the fort speaks of courage of the Ryotwari system as well who was ruling the place better and very well. Tipu Sultans and Hayder Alis architectural genius, an advancement and the war stories are still seen in the fort wall. The walk on the walls of the fort still speaks of great stories of father son relationships. British came, they won and they also won the fort by using their stooges.
Devanahalli is an ancient and historic town was fortified in mud by Gowda rulers, and then strengthened by Hyder Ali and his son, Tipu Sultan. The feudal practices of humiliating the villagers continue to this day; the old Amildars and Shirsastedar system of the area continued during the British Raj.
The many Hindu temples inside the fort stand as a symbol of Tipu Sultan leadership, very unlike the chaotic rulership of the time. Being rulers, even though Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan had engaged with stooges under the Ryotwari system, barter communities were treated very well.
The performers of the British Raj; are not just comedians it seems but they moved with flow. They were aimlessly working to ruin the duos image; walls still speak of. They were pawns as well as tools of the Britishers. When Tipu Sultan lost; as he lost the entire dynasty against the British; the stooge, pawn and comedian entertain as well defame the image of Tipu Sultan as they bring the renaissance of the construction of the Hindu religion with caste hierarchy once again which they thought that Tipu Sultan had destroyed it. Though the whole landscape of then India was losing against British Raj. The game changer stooge changed their mindset as they were doing “puppetgiri” all the time. In making of new India or independent India; stooges were all over. They were celebrated as one of the fighter communities. Stooges victimhood worked to lure and blind the whole country.
Recently there was a news mentioning that the Devanahallis Christian community was encroaching the temple which was newly built so Jesus idol and cross has been destroyed by the locals. It was the same time when NIIFL was getting established by the Modi government under Arun Jaitley’s guidance.
The Mysore kings did their best to ruin Tipu Sultan’s image; the walls still speak. They were pawns as well as tools of the Britishers. When Tipu Sultan lost; these very British stooges defamed his image and brought back the Hindu religion which is constructed upon the base of caste hierarchy. But eventually, the whole landscape was lost to the British Raj, the stooges came to realise. Even in the creation of new or independent India; stooges were celebrated as the warrior community. Their stories of victimhood worked to lure and blind the whole country.
Recently there was news mentioning that the Devanahalli’s Christain community was encroaching a newly built temple, in return, the Church’s cross was destroyed by local Hindus. This was around the same time when NIIFL was getting established by the Modi government under Arun Jaitely’s guidance.
